Lizzie Lawson
Lizzie is a highly qualified and experienced teacher from the UK. She holds a BA Hons degree in English literature and media studies, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education, all from British Universities. She gained a QTS in 2000 and has taught both in the UK and internationally.
Lizzie believes that teaching should be about allowing children to continue the learning journey they naturally began at birth and then beyond. “All children are programmed to want to learn and find out more about the world around them and themselves, and our job as teachers is to allow this to continue and to provide opportunities to develop their passions and create links with new ideas and concepts,” she says.
Lizzie thinks it is vital to build good relationships with children in to help take them on their journey of discovery. In her view, education is about inspiring a love of learning and not interrupting these natural desires with tasks that are meaningless to the child.
“In a world where we are preparing our children for professions that are as yet unknown, we must nourish their natural curiosities and love of learning. Rather than focusing on the end result and what the child can produce through given worksheets or guided activities, focus is on the journey and what they are discovering in the process.“
Jasmine Gurung
Born in the former British hill station of Darjeeling, educated in some of the best universities in India and beyond and with a vast teaching experience at schools of all levels, Jasmine Gurung is a rare breed of a truly passionate teacher who perceives teaching not simply as a job but as a mission.
She holds of a BA degree in English, PG diploma in Journalism and a Diploma of Screen from Sydney, Australia, and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in education. More than five years of teaching experience allowed her to establish her own teaching philosophy, pillars of which are: respect for the child’s individuality; interactive learning through activities and securing a safe and stimulating environment for her students.
Or in her own words “I believe that every child is a marvelous individual with fathomless potential and limitless energy. It takes love, care and respect to work with them. If there’s a job that requires passion, this is it.”
